Eating out: Bali edition

The third and final instalment of my eating out edition and the third stop was Bali. In order of preference... Merah Putih

Merah Putih is the best restaurant in Bali! There I said it. Move over Mamasan and Sarong. Merah Putih has it all. The decor is like nothing you have ever seen it reminds me of an indoor jungle with a grand ceiling that has columns attached that when it rains the ceiling and the columns look like a waterfall. The food is incredible. We had the worlds most delicious spring quail rolls filled that we re ordered twice. We also had incredible soft shell crab, fried chicken and lamb curry. Every single thing that made it out of the kitchen was devoured by our table. We ate and drank coconut mojitos and laughed all the way home….

La Lucciola

This is the most romantic restaurant setting I have been to in the world! We went here on our last day when 3 of the 5 out of our crew were struck by bali beli. I went with an Italian friend and he was floored at how authentic the food was. We ordered stuffed zucchini flowers to start and then I had the handmade gnocchi with a beef ragu and he had the pizza. The food was exquisite the view of the beach literally right in front of us stole my heart. I think I repeated about a 1000 times how beautiful it is! For dessert we got a Bundio (A coconut bread and butter pudding) SHUT THE FRONT DOOR it was so good! we ordered another 2 between us and I told you I didn't like dessert.

Motel Mexicola

This place has the most increible style. Whoever did there interiors made it so cool! There is a shrine at the entrance that is so cool yet beautiful it almost takes your breath away. The owner welcomes us and is incredibly warm and charismatic. He asks us if we are allergic to anything and then entices us with a few suggestions and says he will organise it for us and it won't cost more than $15 a head. We are excited but me being the team reataurnter and orderer feel a little out of my comfort zone. I decide to let it go with a frozen margarita and see what he comes up with. He starts us of with pork tostadas and raw tuna tostadas- Delish we are off to a good start. Then he brings out spiced corn kernels with sour cream - again simple and amazing. We then have ceviche and guacamole and then they bring out ribs and fish for us to pull apart and make tacos with. It was so beautiful and fresh and amazing. The atmosphere definitely can get you in trouble we ended up dancing with balinese drag queens at a bar down the road til early hours in the morning.

Mamasan and Sarong

Both of these places are a must go in Seminayk. Sarongs settings are much more regal and beautiful with lots of pink and orange draping. The food is indian heavy and that isn't my favourite cuisine but they still do an amazing job at it. Mamasan is more indonesian but also has a few curries. We ordered dumplings and friend chicken (can you tell its a favourite of mine) and then ordered panang currie and steamed fragrant fish. It was delicious but not as good as Merah Putih

So there you have it. My must eat places in three places around the world. Bon appetite!
